TÜV Rheinland celebrated the grand opening of its Northeast Technology and Innovation Center in Boxborough, MA.
The Technology and Innovation Center, covering an expansive 65,000 square feet, is furnished with comprehensive infrastructure designed for electrical safety, wireless technology, EMC testing, environmental assessments, and medical device testing, among other specialized facilities.
Dr. Michael Fübi, CEO of TÜV Rheinland, expressed his views: “The North American market is a key component of the company’s global strategy, serving as both a market and a center for advanced technology and industry. The opening of this new facility demonstrates TÜV Rheinland’s commitment to growth and innovation in the United States, where the testing, inspection, and certification market is expected to expand significantly in the coming years.”
The new laboratory boasts a 10-meter semi-anechoic chamber, facilitating testing across a broad spectrum of products, ranging from automotive vehicles to medical devices and lifts. Emphasizing EMC testing, product safety assessment, environmental testing, and more, the company aids retailers and manufacturers in optimizing their product development processes, accelerating time-to-market, and ensuring adherence to industry standards.
Michael Cronin, Vice President of Sales Products at TÜV Rheinland, highlighted: “Our primary focus is on bolstering our Products Business Unit within the US, recognizing its pivotal role in our North American growth strategy. Our commitment entails ongoing investments in innovation, strategic partnerships, and our talented teams. Notably, our investment in North America accounted for 7.2% of the total investment volume in the 2023 financial year, primarily allocated to constructing the Northeast laboratory center in Boxborough.”
A ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the official opening of the laboratory, and a tree planting ceremony was also conducted to symbolize the company’s commitment to shaping the future and promoting sustainability and technological advancement in the Northeast region. The event was graced by Dr. Fübi, Kimmo Fuller, Executive Vice President of Products, and key industry customers who have partnered with TÜV Rheinland, including significant collaborators such as AMETEK-CTS, ETS-Lindgren, Fair-Rite, Innova, and Rohde & Schwarz. Additionally, four workshops were organized, focusing on topics pertinent to the products industry.
