In its ongoing commitment to Lower Bavaria, Germany, TÜV SÜD has inaugurated a new facility in Straubing. This latest addition is set to enhance the company’s competencies and capabilities in several key areas, including testing of components for new energy vehicles, battery technology, environmental simulation and explosion protection.
This investment follows the establishment of a new EMC absorber hall in 2019 and represents a €5 million injection into a 1,300 sq m state-of-the-art testing laboratory, complete with essential measurement equipment.
The Straubing Centre of Competence’s laboratories are equipped to conduct product assessments for both German-speaking regions and global markets. Their services encompass a range of tests, from EMC and radio-equipment evaluations to electrical safety checks and environmental simulation for industries, rail sectors, and automotive products. The laboratory’s sophisticated measurement tools are capable of conducting assessments for various sectors including medical technology, household appliances, industrial equipment, radio devices, and automotive products, serving the DACH region (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland) as well as international markets like the USA, Canada, and Japan.
For TÜV SÜD’s clientele, the new laboratory offers the convenience of conducting a broader spectrum of comprehensive tests at a single site.
Dr Johannes Bussmann, the chairman of TÜV SÜD’s board of management, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “The new laboratory marks a significant achievement not only for the Straubing site but for the entire TÜV SÜD Group. It complements our existing laboratory infrastructure in Garching near Munich, Mannheim, and Straubing perfectly.”
