Established in 1997, ANATEL is responsible for approving telecommunication products to meet quality and safety standards and regulations. Almost all products that transmit radio frequencies or connect to the public telephone network and telephony powered by lithium batteries must be approved by the regulatory agency.

3. More about ANATAL certification
ANATEL certification is mandatory for three categories of telecommunication equipment:
Category I
1. terminal equipment that connects to a Fixed Switching Telephone Service (FSTS) network via an endpoint;
2. equipment that connects a private telecommunications network to an FSTS network;
3. equipment that connects to the FSTS network for the purpose of providing value-added services.
Product examples: cell phones, satellite phones, VOIP phones, cellular phone batteries, cellular phone charging cables, telephone signal cables, modems…
Category II
Any equipment using radio not covered by Type I, such as low-voltage devices, unlicensed equipment and antennas.
Product examples: TV and radio antennas, receivers, transmitters, wireless network equipment, RF automation equipment…
Category III
Any equipment not covered by Type I or II that is subject to ANATEL’s rules and regulations.
Product examples: fiber optic cables, cable connectors, mobile network signal transmitters…

- Information of the applicant (the applicant should be a local company in Brazil. GTG Group can assign a local representative.);
- ISO 9001 certificate;
- User manual in Portuguese;

- Engineer evaluating the applicable regulations and the required tests for the product;
- Sending the requested test sample(s) to our laboratory for pre-compliance testing (EMC & RF);
- Made improvements if the test sample(s) fail the pre-testing and prepare for the retest;
- Sending test sample(s) to to the local laboratory in Brazil if pre-testing have all past;
- Brazil local testing laboratory test the sample(s) and issue a test report;
- Organismo de Certificação Designado (OCD) issues a CoC certificate;
- OCD submits the CoC certificate and the test report to Aantel for Certificate of Homologation (CoH);
- Anatel reviewing the documentation and issues the CoH certificate;
- GTG Group sending back the test report, CoC, CoH certificate.
- 2 years for Category I equipment;
- 2 years for Category II equipment;
- 3 years for Category III equipment.
- All products listed on ANATEL’s published list must be certified;
- Certificate/authorization holder (the importer or the manufacturer) need to be legally recognized by Brazil;
- User manuals, installation instructions and warning signs are required in Portugal. Other documents can be in English;
- The ANATEL certification mark must be added on products exporting to Brazil.
