1.Low Voltage Directive (LVD)
The Low Voltage Directive (LVD) is one of many directives established by the European Union, which sets out safety requirements for electrical and electronic equipment designed for use within certain voltage limits (low voltage).
2. Relationship between CE marking and the LVD
The Low Voltage Directive is one of the regulations that a product must comply with to receive CE marking. In other words, if a product is designed to operate within the voltage limits set by the Low Voltage Directive and meets all other relevant EU regulations, it can bear the CE marking.
Other EU regulations include the EMC Directive, RoHS Directive (restricts the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment), and the REACH Regulation (regulates the use of chemicals in products).
3. More about LVD certification
The directive applies to all electrical and electronic equipment that operates within a range of voltages from 50 to 1000 volts AC, and 75 to 1500 volts DC. This includes a wide range of products, such as household appliances, computers, lighting equipment, and power tools.

Below are the general application steps for achieving LVD certificate. Have questions or not sure where to start? Please fill out our short form, our expert will be glad to assist further.
- Fill out the application form;
- Send the materials and test sample(s) to our laboratory;
- Issue a quotation: our engineer will evaluate the applicable standard, testing time required and the cost;
- Settle the payment;
- Perform test and prepare for the report: the laboratory will carry out a full set of tests according to the relevant EU testing standards;
- A CE certificate will be issued after all the tests have passed.
Depending on whether the standard expires. If the standard expires, the certificate expires accordingly and needs to be recertified.
