Trina Storage and TÜV SÜD Sign Strategic Cooperation Agreement to Promote Sustainable Development of Energy Storage Batteries
During the Intersolar Europe exhibition, Trina Storage and TÜV SÜD (hereinafter referred to as “TÜV SÜD”) signed a strategic cooperation agreement. The aim is to establish a comprehensive product testing and certification plan according to the new EU Battery Regulation (EU 2023/1542), helping Trina Storage products meet the strict requirements of the EU’s new battery regulation.
As the global energy transition deepens, energy storage technology is gradually becoming a key component in supporting the development of renewable energy. The EU, as a major global economic region, is increasingly imposing stringent requirements on battery products. In 2023, the EU released a new battery regulation (EU 2023/1542), aimed at enhancing the sustainability, safety, and transparency of battery products to promote the green energy transition and protect consumer rights.
Under the cooperation agreement, the partnership will cover seven core aspects of the EU’s new battery regulation, including restricted substances, carbon footprint, recyclable materials, performance and durability, safety, information disclosure, and battery recycling. Trina Storage and TÜV SÜD will organize relevant personnel for training and fully understand the new regulatory requirements. Both parties will define prerequisites and foundational systems for each aspect of the regulation and complete the framework of these systems. This comprehensive cooperation will help Trina Storage products meet regulatory standards and support Trina Storage in creating sustainable, green, and environmentally friendly energy solutions.
Sun Wei, Vice President of Trina Solar and President of Trina Storage, said: “We are honored to collaborate with TÜV SÜD in the field of sustainability. This cooperation not only pushes our products to comply with the latest EU regulations but also furthers our leadership in industry sustainability and innovation.”
Christian Theeck, Chief Expert on EU Battery Regulations at TÜV SÜD, said: “We are delighted to cooperate with Trina Storage on this forward-looking project. This collaboration will help Trina Storage solutions achieve the highest standards in performance, safety, and environmental responsibility. Additionally, we will provide comprehensive technical support and expert knowledge services to Trina Storage, helping it maintain its leading position in the global energy storage market.”
Trina Solar, established 27 years ago, has always placed great emphasis on compliance operations, strictly adhering to applicable laws and regulations, international conventions, and business ethics standards in various regions, committed to maintaining business integrity and ensuring sustainable development. In terms of batteries, the company insists on independent research and development of Trina-branded cells, mastering core cell technology, and exploring high-safety, high-reliability battery products. In February of this year, Trina Solar received the ISO 37301 Compliance Management System certification from BSI. This cooperation is also an important step forward in the company’s compliance management. Trina Storage stated that it will continue to provide high-quality services to customers with advanced technology and reliable products in the future, contributing to the realization of global sustainable development goals.
