The Office of Engineering and Technology of the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has approved seven applications for new Wi-Fi management systems that could help to increase the deployment of unlicensed operations in the 6 GHz spectrum.

According to a Public Notice issued in late February, the newly approved applications will permit the deployment of automated frequency coordination systems. The FCC says that its action will help support the operation of standard power Wi-Fi in the unlicensed 6 GHz band and will “expand access to new technology, applications, and services.”
